Craig Harden

Co-writer of “Love Chose Me”

Craig Harden began his musical journey in middle school when he adopted the drums and began to play rock and roll with a local band. He continued playing into high school where he added singing to his musical repertoire. Craig sang with the Lindbloom High School choir and the barbershop quartet where he won a gold medal in a city wide singing competition. In church, Craig was heavily influenced musically by his cousin Darwin Mason and the Sheldon Heights choir director Willie Carter. Craig had sung with various ensemble groups in church over the years. However, in the early '80s, Willie Carter started giving Craig directing assignments with the choir. By the mid '80s Craig had taken over the role of choir director. Since then he has consistently directed the choir for the last 40 years until the present day.

Carrington Calhoun

Bass Vocal Arranger and Rhythm Bass Singer

Carrington Calhoun has been deeply involved in church music since the age of five, developing a strong foundation in vocal performance and worship leadership. With a primary focus on singing bass, he brings depth and richness to every musical arrangement, while also maintaining the versatility to sing tenor when needed. He is also proficient in the sub-bass range, adding a powerful and resonant foundation to vocal harmonies that enhances the overall sound of worship. His lifelong passion for gospel music has been shaped by years of active participation in congregational singing, special music programs, and group harmonies. Currently, Carrington serves as the sound technician for Sheldon Heights Church of Christ, where he ensures high-quality audio for both in-person and streamed services. His dual experience in both performance and audio engineering makes him a valuable contributor to the church’s worship experience.

Chase Johnson

Chase Johnson is a life long member of the Church of Christ. His love of singing began at Residence Park Church of Christ (Dayton,Oh). Encouraged by his Sunday school teacher(Johnnie Wilder, Jr - of the R&B group Heatwave) Chase began leading song services in middle school and has continued doing so up to the present day. Currently a member of Sheldon’s Heights COC in Chicago,Il Chase is an active participant in the music ministry at Sheldon (Praise Team , S.H.A.A.C.)

Vanessa Bryant

Vanessa Bryant has been singing from the early age of 13, starting at the Harvey Church of Christ mass chorus. There, she was trained vocally by Edna Ratliff and her mother, Lillie Bryant. She has sung with many groups, and when she returned from college, she was asked by the late Henry Murphy to be apart of the Harvey Gospel Singers which she is still a member of 30 years later. She now also sings with the Sheldon Heights praise team and the Acapella Choir.

Victoria McMillian

Victoria Nicole McMillan has been singing all her life. She started out singing in the Chicago south side youth choir with Linda underwood and Juanita Underwood as directors. As an adult, her singing experience includes having been a member of the Gospel Blend, the Acappella Experience and now she is brings her beautiful soprano voice to the Sheldon Heights church praise team as well as the Sheldon Heights choir. Both her parents sing and she enjoys continued fellowship with a whole host of family and friends who also are singers.

Donale Coats

Donale is 11 years old and this was his first time in a professional recording studio. He loves to sing and recently had a viral video of himself singing a Michael Jackson song at his school. He comes from a family with deep musical roots in the Church. Expect great things in the future from this budding star!

Joretha Thomas

Joretha Thomas has been a dedicated member of the Angelic Singers, under the direction of Darwin Mason, since the age of 14. She continued to sing at the Chatham Avalon Church of Christ, where she faithfully served, before placing her membership with the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ in 2025. Upon joining Sheldon Heights, she became an active member of the Sheldon Heights A Cappella Choir, continuing her passion for singing and ministry through music. Joretha is also the sister of Elder John Thomas from Sheldon Heights, Joretha serves as a food pantry volunteer at the Chatham Avalon Church of Christ, demonstrating a shared family commitment to faith and service.

Jamal Jackson

Jamal Jackson began playing the trumpet in the 3rd grade and continued honing his craft through high school and into college, where he performed as a member of the band at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). His musical journey also includes vocal performance as a tenor, baritone,& bass in two acappella groups: Voices of Praise and the Praise Ensemble. In addition to his instrumental and vocal experience, Jamal currently serves as a praise leader at Sheldon Heights Church of Christ, where he leads worship with passion and purpose. Through both trumpet and voice, Jamal has blended technical skill with spiritual expression, contributing to a range of performances that celebrate excellence, creativity, and community.

Clarice Robinson

Clarice Robinson is a member of the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ. She joined the praise team in the spring of 2023. Clarice enjoys singing in the praise team and the choir using her gift to share God with others.

Sherita Lyles

Sherita Lyles grew up attending the Monroe Street Church of Christ in Chicago. There she taught Sunday school and directed their choir. She sang with the Sheldon Heights Acapella Choir in 2004 and also sings and travels nationally with the United Quintet of Chicago. Sherita has a phenomenal voice and uncommonly wide vocal range. She can sing bass all the way up to soprano. Sherita has recorded many songs with Antony Carter as a background singer, soloist and has even helped in the capacity of lyricist. “Carry Me Through”, the bonus track of this project, was written by Antony specifically for Sherita as she battled cancer. On a day when she felt strong enough, she came to the studio and God did the rest!

Steven Thompson II

Steven Thompson II began his musical journey singing at the Central Church of Christ in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at seven years old. From there his anointing and his love of singing to The Lord was clear and engraved in his spirit. He has sung alongside groups such as; The Gospel Lites of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Central Gospel Choir, Russell Smith and Inspiration, and has shared the stage with artists like The Canton Spirituals and Mighty Clouds of Joy. He has traveled across the country, being requested from Churches of Christ from Milwaukee to Miami. He planted roots at The Sheldon Heights Church of Christ in 2019 as the Minister of Music and has served faithfully under the leadership of Bro. Leonardo D. Gilbert and Bro. Justin M. Carter. Steven gives all of the glory to God for his ability to use his gift of song to encourage and lift up himself and most importantly, others.

Carter Legacy Singers

A family singing ensemble consisting of 3 generations of the Carter Family. This group includes 2 former directors and the choir president of the Sheldon Heights Acapella Choir.
