Leonardo D. Gilbert has faithfully served as the minister and pastor of the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ for over 44 years. A dedicated man of God, his life and leadership have shaped countless souls both within and beyond the church walls.
Though not a current choir member, Bro. Gilbert’s relationship with the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ Acappella Choir spans 50 years, including approximately eight years as an active member. His deep love for music and spiritual expression has led him to serve as a lead singer and commentator on two previous recordings. On this current album, he joyfully lends his voice once again on the powerful track “Hallelujah.”
One of the most meaningful connections between his ministry and music came over two decades ago when his Easter sermon inspired the now-famous gospel hit “Give Me a Song,” written by the immensely talented Antony Carter. That moment became a musical legacy, binding word and worship in harmony.
Adding to that legacy, his wife, Brenda Gilbert, penned the second verse of “Sweet Peace of Mind,” further testifying to the spiritual and creative bond they share.
“I love music. I love God. I love my church and my choir,” says Bro. Gilbert. His passion for the Lord and the worship experience shines through every note and every word he shares. He counts it an honor to be connected to Antony Carter, whom he calls “one of the greatest gospel songwriters, composers, and singers the Church of Christ has ever had.” With deep gratitude and unwavering faith, Leonardo D. Gilbert continues to serve, sing, and uplift — one soul, one sermon, and one song at a time.
